The Project
As the most central airport in the capital, London City faces a number of unique challenges as it carries out its aim to meet the demands of an increasingly connected world, while improving the surrounding environment, community and economy.
At the epicentre of a thriving city that's home to 9.5 million people, the airport turned to OpticalMedia in 2019, looking for content to showcase both its business practices and community engagement programmes - from its environmental obligations to nurturing STEM students.
We have worked on over 15 projects with London City Airport and have become a valued member of their supply chain.

The Solution
To reflect the London City brand - clean, modern, easy and memorable- while giving passengers an exceptional experience we ensured all videos were shot in 4K UHD, with contemporary music and graphics. Short form content was complimented with bold motion graphics, while longer content featured interviews and pieces to camera with key stakeholders.
To achieve cinematic shots from the airport’s runway, our team have undergone training and qualifications to shoot in higher-risk areas. During a spell of filming post lockdown, the team found creative measures to film content with the additional restrictions posed.
Our most recent work (October 2023) for London City was the commissioning of short form content for their upcoming relaunched website. The brief was to show a variety of customers travelling from train to plane and their journey through the airport, in videos that could be watched with or without sound. This involved casting and scripting actors and developing an efficient shooting plan that minimised disruption to the airports day-to-day business.
